Wal-Mart mobilizes against Democrats
executives stressed employees would have to pay hefty union dues and get nothing in return, and might have to go on strike without compensation, and warned that unionization could force the company to cut jobs as labor costs rise http://biz.yahoo.com/rb/080801/walmart_democrats.html

"Wal-Mart has once again been exposed for what it really is: a corporation that will go to any length to put profits ahead of its workers," Meghan Scott, spokeswoman for WakeUpWalMart.com, said in a statement. Do any of these people live in the real world? What corporation doesn't put profits ahead of workers?

I am no big fan of Obama, but this Walmart shit is only one more reason to vote a straight Democratic ticket this Nov. You like unions, vote Democratic, if you are against unions then vote for a damn fucking Republican!!!!

zigzag- 08-02-2008

my guess is it won't stand up in court and the dems probably know it. Somebody will sue they where denied their freedom of speech by not being allowed to vote in private.

Time to get your head out of your ass Oldtimer. That is what your mind is capable of responding with, you scum bag! Funny, I get phone calls from unions, Teamsters including, encouraging support of Obama. But with scumbags like you, who love to straddle the fence, it aint no wonder organized labor has gone down the toilet.

zigzag- 08-03-2008

my guess is this wasn't an accident and wal-mart wanted it to hit the media to use their negitive imagine to get people to vote for Obama because the more people down on their luck, the more customers they will have. The want the moron to crash the economy and know full well their employee's will fear for their jobs if times get tough and won't go union.

"I knew there would be a lot of "free" work but...it is insane. I easily work the equivalent of a part time job for nothing. 20 to 30 hrs of uncompensated work a week, my god." damn wimpy greenhorn just ain't man enough for the job

Sen. Obama said the rebate could help families offset the increased costs of gas and heating bills. The senator's existing economic plan also calls for a $1,000 tax rebate for certain households. A second part of his plan, the senator said, is aimed at helping "jump-start job creation and local communities that are struggling due to the economic downturn." Under this effort, $25 billion would go toward state governments that face big budget shortfalls, and another $25 billion would be invested in the country's infrastructure and schools. I had always marveled at how a very smart Harvard guy could be so clueless on economic matters. Then I read "The Audacity of Hope" and saw that he understood free trade, taxes and disincentive, etc. Which leads to the scary question, what is he doing? Michael VanBuskirk Educated idiot totally unable to make intelligent decisions. After all is said he will use the same old democrap play book.

I can tell by your assinine reply you never will. Funny how I learned to never believe the Democrat assholes after the JFK election. Exactly what have they done for Organized Labor ? Time to get your head out of your ass if you believe either Party is pro Union Labor.

Time to get your head out of your ass if you believe either Party is pro Union Labor Quitting displaying your ignorance or rather your stupidity. If any progress of the labor movement is made, it is made under the Democrats. I admit that most of our "elected" officials are in the pockets of corporate America, but any who favor organized labor are certainly Democrats and not Republicans. History proves this and for anyone to deny this, is to display their ignorance. Amidst the continued outpouring of praise for Ronald Reagan, let's not forget that he was one of the most anti-labor presidents in U.S. history, a role model for the virulently anti-labor George W. Bush. Republican presidents never have had much regard for unions, which almost invariably have opposed their election. But until Reagan, no GOP president had dared to challenge labor's firm legal standing, gained through Democratic President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the mid-1930s. Reagan's Republican predecessors treated union leaders much as they treated Democratic members of Congress -- as people to be fought with at times, but also as people to be bargained with at other times. But Reagan engaged in precious little bargaining. He waged almost continuous war against organized labor. http://www.dickmeister.com/id89.html

Some Democrats are pro-labor, at least until the votes are counted in November; then they sit back and take bribes til the next election comes along and then they become 'pro-labor' again. well, unless their polls tell them not to be in their particular district. It was the Democrats under FDR that sold Labor out and farmed most of the Locals out to the mobsters. You have to be pretty clueless to think otherwise,; his chief 'labor advisor' was Sidney Hillman ... By the Reagan era, the biggest union voting blocs in distircts that were up for grabs were at 'Defense' plants, aircraft plants, etc.; naturally those unions sold their votes to Ronny, no questions asked, as did the auto workers. Funny how the Democrats poured all that 'Defense' pork into their districts during the 'Cold War', only to have Reagan get their votes later on, eh? ... Teamsters went GOP, too, and did so in the past. Most Unions fluck themselves worse than their enemies ever can, and still do. Hard to recruit a younger rank and file to be more active when the 'old timers' sell them down the river without a paddle with tiered contracts without even blinking.

Both of these parties have been bought lock, stock, and smoking barrel by corporate America. It's hiliarious listening to idiots constantly argue over left vs right, conservative vs democrat, clinton vs bush, etc. It's all the same BS. The Republicans are basically 5% of the population who own 90% of the assets in this country. Nobody in their right mind who's middle or working class would vote for such people....so an assorted bag of tricks is employed to seduce the feeble-minded: flag-waving, shooting guns, HALLELUJAH!, conservative "values"?!?, lowering taxes (and wages), etc, etc. Everyone else is branded a "liberal"...used to be "commie" until Nike found they could pay workers fisheads and rice and line up any union rabblerousers up against the hand ball court...and thus Communist Vietnam, China, etc soon became "most favored nations". Democrat power base was tradtionally workers in the heartland and south and thus were generally pro-labor, but are now nothing more than Republican Lite. These guys talk the talk, but they don't walk the walk. Witness Obama NAFTA yes/no, ANWR drilling no/yes, illegal imigrants yes/no/better teach your kids Espanol. Meanwhile the budget deficit keeps spiraling up. Jobs keep getting shipped out. Wages keep going nowhere. And Minneapolis bridges falling down, falling down. A trillion (yeah that's with a "T") pissed away under dubious circumstances in a place that 70% of Americans can't find on a blank map. Man, this blows!
