I took my Son at 15 to show him what the life of truckdriver was. Thankfully his intelligence level was above mine. Today he takes my Grandkids on real vacations that don't involve the Vagabond (sp) Gypsy Lifestyle. 8) A big 10-4 on that driver... I took mine way back when. The danger is not only in the truck but surroundings also. Had wife and oldest child on a trip to ATL years ago. Stopped at that old truck stop in the market in ATL. They had gone into the store (fuel desk) for a coke or something and this MOE-RON decides to back through the fuel isle in high range with no four ways or horn. Just barely missed them as they walked out the door. Made me think after that... :?

My dad took me on a truck trip and a regular vacation. I liked them both so I became a produce hauler. For many cold Canadian winters, I got paid to vacation in the southwest EVERY week. Doesn't get any better than that..... .

not according to the grouches on this site

Doesn't get any better than that..... I guess its what you compare it too. I'm sure living in a truck, for you is a lot better then what you were used to before. I'm sure it beats hitchiking across the country, giving head for cigarettes and rides

Since you're clearly not a truckdriver, you wouldn't know the difference between 'driving a truck' and "living" in a truck. You should stick to the things you know, and however you pay for your travels is up to you....

Since you're clearly not a truckdriver, Got that right!

A little "trucking" sure beats sitting around and becoming bitter, critical, and thinking your little world is perfect. After some 45 years this "lifestyle", I still enjoy it better than the normal daily life. But as I have stated before, God has made us all different. Different strokes for different folks. The world doesn't dance to the same tune. We all dont drive black Fords. I have a friend who gave up a teaching career and went driving. My son gave up being terminal manager for Overnite in Bluefield, WV and went back driving. You don't like "trucking", fine-------but there are people who do and that doesn't "fit" you "lifestyle"? TOUGH SHIT!!!! Personally, I think "retirement" sucks!!!!!!!!! But if you enjoy it, more power to you. Had a friend tell me the other day that I was going to kill myself by working, told him that I would rather die "working" than sitting on my dead ass.

at least hunting and fishing could provide somebody with 3 good meals a day instead of 1 or 2 crummy meals a day, thats if the dweller creature has the time and can find a place to park near someplace that has food Considering the cost of sporting equipment and then the cost of permits and licenses, a person could eat fairly well just on what they would pay to hunt or fish. Me? I am a little conservative and peculiar when it come to eating on the road. I have a 'fridge and I usually carry fruit and veggies to munch on and have 3 sandwiches(wraps). Usually for breakfast , I have a yogurt, a banana, and some unsweetened apple sauce with a low fat muffin, along with coffee. For lunch, I will have some cottage cheese, 4 bean salad, and a ham and cheese wrap. For supper, chicken breast wrap, a sliced tomato and a sugar free pudding, oh I forgot my diet green tea. :P Since the first of the year, I have dropped 25 lbs. I hope to drop about 15 more. I take several vitamins each day, along with several supplements. I just hate to go into truck stops(I am pretty much a loner) and there not that many "mom and pop" diners left, so I "brown-bag".

That seems to be your problem right there. A man at your age.......................I mean......... experience, needs fiber, and lots of it.
