LCV's And Hi-Priority Corridors
-Characteristics of Longer Combination Vehicles (LCVs) in Relation to Roadway Design- Excerpts From http://www.truckinginfo.com/news/news_detail.asp?news_id=51389&news_category_id=6 -- Truck-only toll lanes on I-90 between the Cleveland area and the New York state line on Lake Erie would allow the two biggest existing LCV operations in the country to be linked. These are the LCV corridor on the Indiana Toll Road and the Ohio Turnpike in the Midwest and the operations on the New York State Thruway and the Massachusetts Turnpike in the Northeast. With appropriate connections, the trucking centers of the Midwest could be linked to Boston and New York-Northern New Jersey. -- I-80 from Chicago west through Iowa would make a connection between the major logistical hub of the country in Chicago, and the western Great Plains and Rocky Mountain areas where LCVs already operate. This route (in conjunction with the previous one) would enable these big rigs to operate all the way from Boston and New York to as far west as Denver. -- I-15 in California would link the major intermodal logistics center in Barstow to the existing LCV operations of Nevada, the High Plains and the Rocky Mountains. Moreover, the Southern California Assn. of Governments plans an urban-area toll truckway that would extend from the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles up I-15 as far as Barstow, where it would link up with the I-15 route proposed here. -- I-75 Toledo to Detroit is a spur off the nation’s largest existing LCV operation on the Indiana Toll Road and the Ohio Turnpike that would connect these to the major manufacturing areas of Detroit and Ontario, Canada. -NHS High Priority Corridors-

They're coming. No doubt about it. It will be entertaining to watch as two week idiot wonders get lost and wander off the main drag with these things, and tear little towns open like a sardine can. Can you imagine getting turned around in southern PA with one of those things??

i read someplace the I-90 connector was all mapped out to connect the ohio turnpike to the NYS Thruway and bypass cleveland OH. they will find a way to connect the east cost ports from baltimore and north into the system. looking at the maps,it seems to be mainly a lot of north south corridors and that makes sense, they have the east west railroads to handle that traffic, the majority of the rail system seems to be east/west It's like a giant matchbox city for people to tinker with,ok we docks the ship here and send stuff by rail here and use trucks to do this, set up distribution centers at certain points around the country and feed the system from other points The blue bloods own parts of every piece of the system, from production of the goods,to transporation and distribution of the goods. Psycho truckers fall for crap like the railroad industry wants to destroy the trucking industry, same damn people own parts of both, why would they want to cut off one of their own fingers. They use the transportation system to haul the goods they produce in the factories they own and get them to the retail level, they own that also.

Psycho truckers fall for crap like the railroad industry wants to destroy the trucking industry, Pretty funny stuff, since it was heavy taxes on the railroads that helped finance many state roads for truckers to play 'The Last Cowboys' on in the first place, from the late 1920's up to at least up to the early 1960's. If they really wanted to 'fair' they would be paying an extra premium back to the railroads for that free subsidy for 8 decades, in addition fees; they ain't paying their weight now, but to hear them tell it they are 'unfairly overtaxed', but then they would claim that if they weren't being taxed at all, being morons.

I was reading something yesterday about Texas' part of the NAFTA SuperScam being put on hold, something about it restricting the building of parrallel roads to the toll roads. If I get a free minute I'll try to google it up; it's on the front page of the Star Telegram and Dallas Morning News, yesterday's edition, if anybody cars enough to mess with it.

If I get a free minute I'll try to google it up; it's on the front page of the Star Telegram and Dallas Morning News, yesterday's edition, if anybody cars enough to mess with it. The reason I raised this post was that I-69 is being planned/cut through Texas now and the big wigs are denying it. The article was on Lou Dobs site, now it has been moved. I will try and find it. This road will not only be used to move product from Mexico to Canada (with a new distribution center planned in KC) but will also bring in pier freight from Mexico bypassing our ports. The following is supposed to be shown tonight- On TV Tonight Friday 7pm ET Maine’s two senators are working to give some relief to its truckers. With diesel fuel at all time high of $4.79 a gallon, truckers are finding it harder and harder to stay on the road. This new proposal would raise truck weight limits to help truckers cope with rising prices. We’ll have all the details in our special report.

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Ford Motor Co (F.N: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Friday it will build its new global car, the Fiesta, in Mexico as the struggling U.S. automaker tries to return to profitability. http://www.reuters.com/article/marketsNews/idINN3042976420080530?rpc=44

The "road" is in place and doesn't involve "trucks"..... http://www.kcsouthern.com/en-us/Pages/default.aspx KC being a hub connection to the other Class 1 Railroads.

Just wondering... I wonder if KCS and Mexican carriers will fuel in Mexico and if the pipelines being proposed to run along the corridors will supply Mexican carriers with cheap fuel here? Also, has anyone noticed the leap in price of diesel? It includes accelerated road tax for carriers but gives no break to the public for auto diesel. A fine bunch of thieves they are... 8)
