A NEW HODGIE HILTON/SINBAD 7/11 COMING NEAR YOU SOON! _________________________________________________________ Brazil Discovers Uncontacted Indian Tribe in Amazon Jungle Friday , May 30, 2008 RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil — One of Brazil's last uncontacted Indian tribes has been spotted in the far western Amazon jungle near the Peruvian border, the National Indian Foundation said Thursday. The Indians were sighted in an Ethno-Environmental Protected Area along the Envira River in flights over remote Acre state, said the Brazilian government foundation, known as Funai. Funai said it photographed "strong and healthy" warriors, six huts and a large planted area. But it was not known to which tribe they belonged, the group said. "Four distinct isolated peoples exist in this region, whom we have accompanied for 20 years," Funai expert Jose Carlos Meirelles Junior said in a statement. The tribe sighted recently is one of the last not to be contacted by officials. Funai does not make contact with such Indian tribes and prevents invasions of their land to ensure their autonomy, the foundation said. Survival International said the Indians are in danger from illegal logging in Peru, which is driving tribes over the border and could lead to conflict with the estimated 500 uncontacted Indians now living on the Brazilian side. There are more than 100 uncontacted tribes worldwide, most of them in Brazil and Peru, the group said in a statement. "These pictures are further evidence that uncontacted tribes really do exist," Survival director Stephen Corry said. "The world needs to wake up to this, and ensure that their territory is protected in accordance with international law. Otherwise, they will soon be made extinct." Much like America... turn the page

Fatal Arizona Home Invasion Sparks Fears of Mexican Military Involvement Thursday , June 26, 2008 An Arizona home invasion allegedly orchestrated by Mexican citizens wearing tactical gear sparked fears that members of the Mexican military were involved in a wave of violent crime in the Phoenix area, according to local reports. Police followed the sound of gunshots early Monday morning to the home of 30-year-old Andrew Williams, whose bullet-riddled body was found inside, the Arizona Republic reported. Officers then pursued a report of a suspicious Chevrolet Tahoe in the vehicle and arrested three suspects, all wearing body armor and carrying assault-style rifles. A statement by one of the suspects that he had received prior military training fueled speculation into the fact that they were members of the Mexican military. Phoenix police said Wednesday that none of them were active members. However, in a radio interview this week, Phoenix Law Enforcement Association President Mark Spencer said the men involved were hired by drug cartels to carry out home invasions and assassinations. Spencer added that one of the suspects said they were prepared to ambush officers, but ran out of ammunition. Cops believe three more suspects are still at large. "We have seen an increasing amount of these type of violent crimes in the past five months," Phoenix Police Sgt. Joel Tranter told the Arizona Republic. "We want the public to realize that these types of crimes will not be tolerated in Phoenix." Will truckstops and party row be next?

June 26, 2008 Mexico Releases Border Agent’s Murderer -LOU DOBBS- U.S. Border Patrol agent Luis Aguilar was killed in the line of duty this year while trying to lay down a spike strip to stop a car or illegal alien drug smugglers fleeing back to Mexico. The drive of the Hummer ran Aguilar down. That man was captured in Mexico, but now, just five months later, the Mexican government has set him free. Mexico is saying that the suspect was released because of an “unspecified technicality.” Border Patrol agents who continue to serve our nation are outraged at Mexico’s action and at our country’s nonchalant response to this outrage.

Road Closed For NAFTA Superhighway Published 06/26/08 by Jeff Bennett - Print Article The NAFTA Superhighway took a devastating blow in Texas. The Texas Department of Transportation will advise to cease the construction of the planned NAFTA Superhighway, or I-69, because of the large amount of public outcry and disapproval. The Superhighway, designed to be four football fields wide, promised to transport cheaply produced goods from Mexico to Canada, destroying any property within its path. This announcement is devastating to NAFTA, but important for American sovereignty. NAFTA has placed Americans in a position where we must offer our workers lower standards of pay, benefits and working conditions to compete with Mexico’s cheaply-paid workforce and non-existent environmental standards. Source Borderfire Report: Congressman Ron Paul I am pleased to report that last week we received notice that the Texas Department of Transportation will recommend the I-69 Project be developed using existing highway facilities instead of the proposed massive new Trans Texas Corridor/NAFTA Superhighway. According to the Texas Transportation Commissioner, consideration is no longer being given to new corridors and other proposals for a new highway footprint for this project. A major looming threat to property rights and national sovereignty is removed with this encouraging announcement. Public outcry was cited as the main reason for this decision. I was very impressed to learn that the TxDOT received nearly 28,000 public comments on this matter, and that some 12,000 Texans attended the 47 public hearings held earlier this year. They could not ignore this tsunami of strong public opinion against the proposed plans. I was especially proud of how informed my constituents became on the subject, and how eloquently and respectfully they spoke and conducted themselves, considering how upsetting the plans were for our communities in Texas .

Part III: Solutions to a Tax Devastating American Trade Published 06/25/08 by Economy In Crisis - Print Article Editor’s Note: The following is the third in a three part series about the debilitating effects of the VAT tax. Many of the statistics and examples are from “Dangerous Business,” a forthcoming book by economist Pat Choate, to be released on Aug. 12, 2008. Part III: Solutions to a Tax Devastating American Trade Americans are losing their ability to compete in global trade because of the value-added tax (VAT). Foreign governments use this tax against U.S. producers as a means to prevent the importation and consumption of U.S. goods, while providing incentives for their countries to export goods to the U.S. The tax was created to rebuild a war-torn Europe after WWII, but now Europe is rebuilt and no longer needs to enact this unfair tax, burdening Americans. In 1968, three countries used the VAT, but by 2001, 25 nations enacted this tax to gain a leg-up on American trade. This tax immediately places the U.S. in a system of trade where the opponents possess the upper-hand. U.S. producers cannot compete in a global market while other nations are rewarded for their exportation of goods. In 2001, European countries had a VAT rate of 19.2 percent. By 2005, 94 percent of U.S. exports received a VAT tax. In the same year, foreign governments received rebates of $239 billion from the tax while collecting $131 billion from U.S. producers of goods and services. Pat Choate, economist and former running-mate of H. Ross Perot, recognizes U.S. trade policy is in shambles. Our government cannot stand up to the challenge of leveling the playing field. Choate sees that past efforts to amend the VAT tax (Click here to learn more about the VAT Tax in part 2 of the VAT tax series) have failed and offers a feasible solution. Choate’s solution advises to create a tax on the imported services to offset the foreign advantage of the VAT tax. Once other countries drop the VAT tax on U.S. imports, the U.S. tax on imported services would also be lifted – creating an equal and fair system of trade. America must follow Choate’s solution and create a tit-for-tat tax that creates a level playing field for U.S. trade; the future- and prosperity of the American economy may very well depend on it. http://www.economyincrisis.org/articles/show/1427

McDonald's Franchisee Fined $1M for Hiring Illegal Aliens Thursday , July 17, 2008 RENO, Nev. — Two executives and the corporate owner of 11 northern Nevada McDonald's restaurants pleaded guilty to felony immigration charges and agreed to pay $1 million in fines. Authorities say Mack Associates Inc. employed illegal immigrants at the fast-food restaurants by giving them names and Social Security numbers belonging to others. Nevada U.S. attorney Gregory Brower says the company pleaded guilty Wednesday as a corporation to two felony charges including conspiracy and aiding and abetting. The case stems from the arrests last September of 56 people in Immigrations and Customs Enforcement raids at restaurants in Reno, Sparks and Fernley, and at franchise offices in Reno. Company directors Joe Gillespie of Sparks and former vice president Jimmy Moore pleaded guilty in federal court in Las Vegas to one charge each. About 30 of the illegal workers have returned to their native countries while the rest were allowed to stay in the United States until the case closes. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
