It's my understanding the guard has no ammunition for their weapons. Ijf that's the case they had no alternative but retreat. Having weapons without ammunition is akin to having a condom and no dick. Unless you're Bonepacker, then you could put it on Jack5s dick.

Illegal Aliens Leave, Americans Rush In Your Dec. 22 editorial "Not Very Swift" said that illegal immigration occurs because of labor shortages. You missed the point. Immigration enforcement measures prevent illegal immigrants from taking the jobs of both American workers and legal immigrants. Illegal immigrants often work for lower wages. The fact that Americans applied for the jobs at Swift and Co. after the arrests by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency shows exactly what most studies have been saying -- that there are few jobs that Americans won't do. We have already seen hundreds of Americans and legal immigrants hired for those jobs at Swift previously held by the illegal immigrants. And those reports were coupled with the news that Swift raised the wages for the jobs formerly filled with illegal labor. Rep. Steve King (R., Iowa) Washington

http://www.latimes.com/business/la-ex-credit13feb14,1,5568214.story?track=rss The new Bank of America card is open to people who lack both a Social Security number and a credit history, as long as they have held a checking account with the bank for three months without an overdraft, the Journal said. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,251672,00.html 4 talking heads are on TV argueing about it right now, the clueless will never get it. I think the woman from AZ. would punch out the lady claiming to be a nun in chicago and defending the wetbacks. The lady from AZ. is livid that something needs to be done and a damn good mouthpiece who can more than hold her own. Good thing they aren't all in the same place.

Zig, do you happen to have a working link to this quote? I don't, will send you a PM

Thanks, Zig; I googled the story and found stuff just as good, as in the lines of applicants out the door and down the street at a state employment office of Americans wanting 'jobs Americans won't do' at these plants after news of the raids hit the news. So much for that 'low unemployment rate' and other myths, eh?

The fact that Americans applied for the jobs at Swift and Co. after the arrests by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency shows exactly what most studies have been saying -- that there are few jobs that Americans won't do.I have no clue where that quote came from but I can tell you it's BS. I go to Swift in Cactus Tx. almost daily. I was delivering 24 boxes of product 5 and some times 6 days a week. Now I'm delivering 15 boxes 4-5 days a week. Lots of Gringos have applied to Swift and most were put to work. More than 95 percent of them quit within 4-5 days if they make it that long. They simply will not do the work or better said the kind of work the illegals were doing. There was lines going around the building of the HR office for over a week after INS raided Swift. Those people didn't last a week. Swifts production was below half for the first two weeks and now might be if they stretched the numbers 65 percent of what it was. That is including operating 6 days a week now where they were only Monday thru Friday before the raids. They have cut out all OT for employees except those working Saturday and they have become much stricter on cost. They have even begun weighing the product I bring in to match with their BOL. They use to give me a pair of cotton gloves if I asked for them. Now they don't even have them in sight, they have to be checked out and rumor has it they'll start washing and re-using them. The poor over weight guy who unloads me doesn't get to hide by the rail cars anylonger. He now has to work doing jobs the new hires use to do. He's been there 17 years. Out of the hundreds that have applied since the raid there is just a very small percent who have actually stayed on. most of them are Mexican. I'm re-thinking Bush's imigration plan to close down the border but allow the same workers to come in and do the same jobs they have always done but they must first register. It might keep places like Swift alive. Now Swift is trying to sell out. National might become the new owner. No matter what anyone say's there are jobs us gringo's will not do.

I have no clue where that quote came from but I can tell you it's BS. Really? ... Glad to hear their lazy, crooked management and racketeering may drive them under. Couldn't happen to a more deserving set of owners ... it will increase the chances of a comapny with real management ability having a a shot ... Wonder why the high turnover? .... LOL not really; just joshing ... Yes, I'm sure the management has all kinds of 'horror stories' ... Did they happen to tell you a scary tale about an unkillable monster riding around on a big black horse whacking people with a sword, and had a big pumpkin for a head? I like that one ... They got busted, so management thinks their sweatshop style of hiring fewer people for the same jobs and working them like cattle is the way to go, just because they lost their wetbacks? There is no big mystery about why there is a big turnover of 'gringoes' for me ... They have cut out all OT for employees except those working Saturday and they have become much stricter on cost. No doubt ... They have even begun weighing the product I bring in to match with their BOL. As many companies have been doing for years now ... I'm sure it's pretty horrible for them, though ... they got fat, dumb, and lazy, and now don't have the first clue or the knowledge and skills needed to compete legitimately ... They use to give me a pair of cotton gloves if I asked for them. Now they don't even have them in sight, they have to be checked out and rumor has it they'll start washing and re-using them. Yes, that's certainly a reason to import a few thousand illegals for a couple of decades ... hope you can survive having to check out those gloves. Does Bush know how horrible life got for you? You need to send him an immediate Alert about this dramatic turn for the worst in your working conditions ... The poor over weight guy who unloads me doesn't get to hide by the rail cars any longer. He now has to work doing jobs the new hires use to do. He's been there 17 years. Poor Fat Ass ... sob ... Lost his gravy train ordering his pet illegals around and had to actually work himself after 17 years! The Horror never stops !!!! ... Out of the hundreds that have applied since the raid there is just a very small percent who have actually stayed on. most of them are Mexican. Or, maybe they're hispanic Americans and legal immigrants? But, they do 'all look alike', I'm sure ... I'm re-thinking Bush's imigration plan to close down the border but allow the same workers to come in and do the same jobs they have always done but they must first register. It might keep places like Swift alive. Now Swift is trying to sell out. National might become the new owner. We should care? National most likely is better managed ... or has more pull with the Republican controlled Feds. More ... No matter what anyone say's there are jobs us gringo's will not do. Depends on what it pays, as always ... not being stupid enough to work more for the same money than some criminal illegal will do it for isn't a 'labor shortage' ... just because truck drivers will do it for even less isn't a big selling point in Swift's favor ... More accurate is 'If it don't pay enough for a 'gringo' to do it, there's no legitimate demand for it in the American market'. Speaking of Swift Co. in Cactus, Tx. ... "These plaintiffs are legal residents and victims in a longstanding scheme by Swift to depress and artificially lower the wages of all its workers by knowingly hiring illegal workers," says Angel Reyes, of Dallas' Heygood, Orr, Reyes & Bartolomei, attorney for the plaintiffs. "By lessening its labor costs and increasing its profits, Swift has severely damaged the potential earnings and livelihood of these hard-working men and women. This litigation seeks to redress those wrongs." Each of the plaintiffs were employed at the Swift facility in Cactus, Texas, located north of Amarillo. A total of 295 people were arrested on immigration violations or other criminal charges in a raid of the Cactus facility on Tuesday, Dec. 12. ... "When the Swift plant opened in Cactus, wages were approximately $20 an hour," says lead litigation counsel Michael Heygood. "Now, the average wage is approximately $12 to $13 an hour. Illegal immigration has fueled this depression in wages." More Well, let's look at this ... They illegally raked in some $7-$8 an hour on at least 295 employees. Assuming a 40 hour week, they raked in around $280 to $320 a week on, what was it, 295 criminal illegals? So, they pocketed some $82,600 to $94,400 a week, well over $4 million a year for many years,a big advantage over what a legal competitor would have had, just from their Cactus, Tx. Operation. Anybody here think Swift passes that 'savings' on to consumers, or more properly, did the retailers they sold to? ... We know they passed on the costs of medical care and other social services for illegals to taxpayers, not to mention the associated police services every happy little barrio and colonia here in Texas creates, and likely no doubt skimmed off SS and FICA payment off the payroll as well. Many of these companies like to show that 'deduction' on the check stubs, but never actually send it in and pay it. In any case, I also doubt the illegals were actually getting $12-$13 an hour, nor is it likely they were ever getting time and half for OT ... Rather than take that money and reinvest in modernizing and increasing efficiency, they just pocketed it for themselves, and now a minor setback has them running around selling out because the management never had to actually manage and retain people without having a threat of deportation and blacklisting and a visit from some Mexican Mafia smuggler thug to 'communicate' management's displeasure to them. Boo Hoo.

zigzag- 02-14-2007

There used to be people called butchers working in stores who made good money and than IBP & Swift turned the job into factory work by offering boxed meat to retailers and turned the cow disassmbly lines into sweatshops.

Lugnut- 02-14-2007

I have no clue where that quote came from but I can tell you it's BS. Really? ... Absolutely really, National, Tyson, and all the rest have the same practices when hiring. Lots of illegals and a high turnover for the rest. Glad to hear their lazy, crooked management and racketeering may drive them under. Couldn't happen to a more deserving set of owners ... it will increase the chances of a comapny with real management ability having a a shot ... Wonder why the high turnover? .... LOL not really; just joshing ...Every meat plant operates the same way. Yes, I'm sure the management has all kinds of 'horror stories' ... Did they happen to tell you a scary tale about an unkillable monster riding around on a big black horse whacking people with a sword, and had a big pumpkin for a head? I like that one ...I haven't talked to anyone in management. They got busted, so management thinks their sweatshop style of hiring fewer people for the same jobs and working them like cattle is the way to go, just because they lost their wetbacks? There is no big mystery about why there is a big turnover of 'gringoes' for me ...There isn't any mystery for anyonbe else either. They have cut out all OT for employees except those working Saturday and they have become much stricter on cost. No doubt ... Production is way down. They have even begun weighing the product I bring in to match with their BOL. As many companies have been doing for years now ... I'm sure it's pretty horrible for them, though ... they got fat, dumb, and lazy, and now don't have the first clue or the knowledge and skills needed to compete legitimately ...Actually you wouldn't know if many companies weigh the product I haul because you don't know what it is. No other company has ever weighed it, most don't even have a scale to weigh palets. You need to send him an immediate Alert about this dramatic turn for the worst in your working conditions ...No one said it was a reason to import illegals. All I noted was how tight they have become due to lower production levels since they are unable to hire new employees. The Horror never stops !!!! ...He has never ordered anyone around. He refused two management positions and has stayed a regular employee for years. But yes he is lazy. Out of the hundreds that have applied since the raid there is just a very small percent who have actually stayed on. most of them are Mexican. Or, maybe they're hispanic Americans and legal immigrants? But, they do 'all look alike', I'm sure ...Actually they don't all look alike. But no one said they weren't legal or citizens. Actually I would assume, if I have to, that they are all US Citizens. I'm re-thinking Bush's imigration plan to close down the border but allow the same workers to come in and do the same jobs they have always done but they must first register. It might keep places like Swift alive. Now Swift is trying to sell out. National might become the new owner. We should care? National most likely is better managed ... or has more pull with the Republican controlled Feds.National is no better and no worse than Swift, Tyson or any of the others. More accurate is 'If it don't pay enough for a 'gringo' to do it, there's no legitimate demand for it in the American market'.The pay isn't the issue except for those wanting to cash in on what they see as an opportunity tomake some easy money, the work is. 12.Swift starts new employess slightly higher than Tyson. ... "When the Swift plant opened in Cactus, wages were approximately $20 an hour," says lead litigation counsel Michael Heygood. "Now, the average wage is approximately $12 to $13 an hour. Illegal immigration has fueled this depression in wages."Strange the loader guy and another can't get in on the law suite because they make to much money. No where near 20 an hour but more than the plaintiff's. More Well, let's look at this ... Operation. You should see Tyson's operation. The whites and other US citizens don't even work next to the illegals. They are segregated. Anyone discussing pay is subject to immediate termination. National is much the same. Many of these companies like to show that 'deduction' on the check stubs, but never actually send it in and pay it.Actually the taxes were collected and payed. But they were paid to false or stolen SS numbers. i don't know of any companies thatb pass savings on to the consumer. Prices for everything keep going up. In any case, I also doubt the illegals were actually getting $12-$13 an hour, nor is it likely they were ever getting time and half for OT ...They don't at any other packing plant so it's doubtful they do there either. Boo Hoo.You don't know much about packing plants, their all the same and they all operate the same way. I wonder why Tyson, National, Bar S and others have never been raided. I think it has to do more with who is willing to pay the biggest money to keep them out than who is hiring illegals. The job sucks at everyone of them and none could keep fringo's doing the same jobs the illegals are doing.

Strange the loader guy and another can't get in on the law suite because they make to much money. No where near 20 an hour but more than the plaintiff's. Well, the lawsuit specifies 'average wages', not what Fat Ass And Friends happened to be pulling down personally. I also don't doubt the loader guy is probably strange. Actually the taxes were collected and payed. But they were paid to false or stolen SS numbers. Hope you don't mind if we don't just take your word this is true? It's not a rare 'business' practice when dealing with legal employees, much less illegal ones, not to mention that it would leave a paper trail of multiple felonies, since it requires them to lie on Federal and state tax forms ... no extra risk involved in cooking the cooking the books. Prices for everything keep going up. Of course they do, and it isn't because of higher labor costs, they're hiring illegals at a huge wage differential, and never was even when they had unions and American employees ... They don't at any other packing plant so it's doubtful they do there either. Of course not ... that's called conspiring and driving down legal wages using illegal labor. These industries are unionized; they just call them 'trade associations', 'lobbyists', etc., and they fix prices and conspire to break the law by colluding against American workers to their common benefit. You don't know much about packing plants, their all the same and they all operate the same way. I'm well aware of how they operate, and why they've gotten away with it. Thanks all the same, though ... Don't know how old you are, but I'm more than old enough to know what they used to pay for the same work, unlike Fat Ass and his mere 17 years working there; he was hired after the union busting sprees. Were you hauling stuff in there before the 1970's and 1980's? I grew up about three blocks from an Armour and Swift plant; half the neighborhood worked there, and lived there until the plant closed. How long did you say you been delivering stuff to Swift? I'm sure it's a case of 'it's always been that way' for you and Fat Ass, but that isn't a real argument for criminal labor racketeering ... I wonder why Tyson, National, Bar S and others have never been raided. Tyson got busted just last year, and several times before that. No need to wonder any more ... I think it has to do more with who is willing to pay the biggest money to keep them out than who is hiring illegals. What? ... the Big money is actively promoting the criminal activity. Check out the story behind those Border Patrol agents getting railroaded into prison by the Bush Administration. The job sucks at everyone of them and none could keep fringo's doing the same jobs the illegals are doing. Really? Who was doing these jobs before? Maybe you're too young to remember? ... Even assuming they can't find Gringoes to do the jobs, it's still a self-inflicted problem, entirely their own doing. If they had remained a decent paying, honest American employer, they would have had a steady source of Gringoes happy as hell to go work for them. As it was, they decided to run most of them off, and discriminate against hiring them for decades, then the wheel turned and they got caught with their pants down. Let them fall, they cleared a few hundred million off their criminal activities. If they blew it all and are now broke and incompetent, can't actually manage the company or modernize it, tough shit. Somebody else will. If not, then obviously there is no real demand for their crap in the first place. Nearly all jobs suck; that's why they had to start paying people to do them after slavery was outlawed ...

Let me know when you get down off your pony. For now it looks as if your a bit clueless. But it's Ok. More often than not people on forums take the high and mighty stance wrather than simply discuss things. Sorry but your off in lala land. I suggest reading what went on at Swift and then commenting. I think I like the guest worker program providing they are taxed and companies are made to provide medical and other needed benefits. Providing them a cheap education isn't one of those needed benefits.
