battered dweller syndrome
http://www.pumpkindriver.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=009663 they don't need some stupid seniority system, just sit around complaining the company is putting on new drivers while there isn't enough work for the current drivers who they are trying to strave out and replace with cheaper new hires and dream in 6 to 8 weeks it will pick up again as the auto industry summer shutdowns end and the stock up for christmas season starts. Than return to sniviling in january that things are always slow after the holidays.

I didn't know that site was still around. Didn't you get banned from there awhile back? "What are you complaining about? Heck, you are getting layover pay for sitting on your butt doing nothing?" So what does Schneider pay for layover? After 24 hours away from home waiting for a load, layover pay is earned. Drivers receive $80-$100 (depending on experience) for each 24-hour period. If the company requires the driver to layover for more than 24 hours, motels will also be reimbursed up to $35 for solo drivers or $40 for teams. Don't know too many motels you can get for $35.00 these days. So the driver gets $200.00 or less to sit for 3 days. That's $67.00/day...average OTR trucking day is 11-14 hours so based on that it's less than $6.00/hr. Pro-rate for no overtime and more like $5.25 or less than the current Federal minimum wage. Subtract meal expenses and shower and it's like 30 bucks/day to have a man on-call 24/7 sitting in some piss-stained truckstop miles away from home.  I talked to 4 drivers here at the truck stop who have been here since monday!!!! Post was dated July 19th. Means those guys were sitting in the truckstop for over 4 days.

Looks like they closed down the thread. Bummer, I was really looking forward to reading about company driver woes...

SNI has been brokering alot of their freight for a while. They told me that one time sitting at the house. No freight, I said well I got on SNI web site under their find freight section and found 3 loads on there 50 miles from my house. They didn't have an answer for that. when they are making hundreds off the o/o hauling the load, having their truck sit is no problem.
